http://www.gamefaqs.com/poll/index.html?poll=4069 <-- Sonic Adventure 2 made it into the bracket at the latest GameFAQs contest poll, the only Sonic game to do so. Nice of them to do that; sadly, as you can see it's wound up with a raw deal and then some. Assuming it manages to survive to round 3, there are two Halos lurking beneath it, either of which is doubtlessly going to run it over like a frigging freight train.

Oh well!

Disappointing, of course the only thing in that bracket that stands a chance against Halo(s) is Street Fighter 4 and Uncharted 2, unless by some miracle both Halo's lose.

Didn't even make it out of round 1. However, TF2 and Fable had a highly entertaining, staggeringly close fight that was a virtual dead heat for all 12 hours of the vote (here's what it looked like around 6:30). TF2 ended up winning by a margin of 37 votes - out of, oh, 61,000.

It was given, but Sega will be shilling Game Gear games on the 3DS Virtual Console. Of the first 5 of those in the japanese store, the Sonic choices are, oddly, Triple Trouble (Sonic & Tails 2) and Sonic Drift 2. Those are two of the better ones, but still weird.

Of course if the apathy on the western end of the Wii VC has been any indication, you can ~~look forward to~~ scoff/snigger condenscendingly at how slowly Nintendo will release these things while you fire up the homebrew emulators!

An impending Sonic Adventure 2 port for XBLA/PSN looking like a given. That's interesting for a company so ruthlessly lazy that they don't usually put a shred of effort into porting anything, unless it can be a quick and dirty PC port (SADX, Crazy Taxi, et al.) or some group does it for them (Backbone, Taxman; either way they don't care about the end result). SA2 was never ported to anything besides the GC.

So are they finally pulling up their big boy britches and aiming to port something *gasp* difficult? Properly, even? They really ought to consider it this time seeing as they're bleeding yen out the ass something terrible. Oh who am I kidding, anything with Sonic's face on it prints money... although i'm betting you that's the kind of callous strategy that has landed them in the hole in the first place.

All ranting aside, bets on what will or won't be butchered? I'll be suprised if all the ties to SOAP shoes don't get axed or turned into some 99 cent DLC crap. Also, if they're even thinking about providing online vs., they've got to nerf Amy, or well...

I don't even own a current generation system, and I know DLC is a cash cow for game companies.

But WTF? the once cool piece of news since Generations and they do that. It sounds convoluted and silly, and especially to do that after that huge reaction the trailer got at SB. I've never seen so many nerds lose their shit over a reissue of an 11 year old game (that they already fucked with once). and I was kind of pumped for a clean reissue of the Dreamcast version.

Not that SA2 is really that good anyway, but if you have a decent video card you can just run nullDC in 1080p for practically the same outcome

I dunno, I didn't enjoy SA2:B as much, it just felt silly, like they were miking it. The moment I came home with my fresh copy of SA2 and popped it in my dreamcast was magical, even through the end of that game. I have my DC with SA2 sitting inside next to me right now, it still feels right. The GC version always seemed like much ado about nothing to me. I never explored the 2 player stuff, so I'm not sure about that

But I digress.

Most of what people know sega for is at least 10 years old at this point. An edited reissue of an edited reissue seems silly to me, but then again I'm not who they're marketing this to so whatevs.

Edit: Seriously what the hell? I'm reading over what I typed this time and previously, and I can't make sense of what i'm trying to get at. I'll leave this here, but if I'm not understanding where I'm going with this then IDKWTF... Sonic makes me stupid.

So for some reason I had the bright idea of getting the new Adventure 2 port on Steam.

After well over a day of trying various fixes made by people who were only taking an educated guess at what the fuck was even wrong, I somehow got it to work by manually editing the config file to run the game at 640x480. (The launcher sucks and crashes when you try to save and launch, so this is the ONLY way for me to edit settings.) Then, I exited, changed my settings back and boom. Game runs fine.

Well, sort of. I had to use NVidia Inspector to force the game to run at 60fps, otherwise it would be way too fast and now Sonic makes himself eats those words.

It also only accepts XInput, so you'd better have an Xbox 360 controller and its proprietary PC adapter, or get ready to get A Ranks with your fuckin' keyboard!

Yeah, I have now played the original NiGHTS into Dreams on an actual Saturn... and it's pretty shit.
